PLASTPOL 2010 - review
Trade meetings and new products presented by the leaders. The International Fair of Plastics Processing PLASTPOL is the largest fair dedicated to plastics in this part of Europe. It is a few years since PLASTPOL reached the top of a Polish Trade Fair Corporation ranking of trade fairs boasting the highest foreign exhibitor attendance.
In 2010 PLASTPOL brought together almost 700 companies from 29 countries in Europe as well as from the USA, India, Japan, Taiwan, China, Egipt, Hong Kong, Korea, and Thailand. Almost 25,000 square metres of exhibition space were made available to the participants.
PLASTPOL features almost all the products used in and related to the plastics processing industry – from the first stages of production to disposal and recycling. Among the exhibits are, first and foremost, plastics processing machines, moulds and tools utilized in this industry, a variety of plastics, components, recycling technologies and IT systems applied in plastics processing. Technologies and final products are also put on display by companies operating in the packaging industry. PLASTPOL enjoys accreditation from the UFI – the most important global organization associating over 300 exhibition companies from all over the world.
In the trade fair PLASTPOL 2010 took part major companies operating in the plastics processing industry. Among the equipment producers and distributors were such companies as Dopak, Krauss Maffei, Muehsam, Engel, Arburg, Weima Maschinenbaum, Desma, Reifenhaüser, Elbi, Plast Line, Battenfeld, Wadim Plast, Negri Bossi, Erema, Uniloy Milacron and Piovan, and that’s not all. The plastics sector were represented by such market leaders as Basell Orlen, Anwil, TVK, Borealis, Ampacet, PolyOne, Dunastyr, Polimeri Europa, as well as A. Schulman Polska and other important players on this market.
- After the recession in 2008-2009, which affected a large part of the plastics industry, the situation is improving, however still very slowly – said Jakub Skowronski, the marketer of ANWIL S.A. belonging to the Orlen Group.
Other exhibitors of the International Fair of Plastics Processing PLASTPOL in Kielce are of the same opinion. This year's edition attracted as many as 700 exhibitors from 29 countries. Representatives of almost all European countries, as well as the USA, India, Japan, Taiwan, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand came to Kielce to join the event. Among them there are also the lucky ones like the Zakłady Azotowe Tarnów (Nitrogen Works) - Moscice SA – Przedsiębiorstwo Wielkej Syntezy Chemicznej (Great Chemical Synthesis Company), which circumvented a recession graciously.
- Our company, fortunately, was not touched by the crisis. We have succeeded primarily due to the fact that we are an integrated company - says Tomasz Sikora, marketing specialist from Zakłady Azotowe Tarnów - Moscice - It is obvious that something stirred in the industry, even from the attendance at the fair PLASTPOL. Our booth was visited by a lot of specific clients.
- For us, the crisis ended a few months ago. Since then, almost at the rate of an avalanche we have a growing number of orders, which is already twice as much than in the corresponding period of 2009. We are also satisfied with this year’s fair- admits Michał Pijewski, technical specialist from Grilamid
According to Eurostat data, last year's European production of plastics was more than 15% lower compared to 2008, affecting mostly the market of plastics processing machinery. However, improvement is evident since the end of 2009, there was a revival in investments made by companies of the industry. CMAI Analysts predict, however, that the plastics industry will be returning to the best times of 2007 over the next five years.
For the first time a special contest- OMNIPLAST was held in connection with the fair. The contest for Polish branch was co-organized by Tworzywa.pl. Its final came at noon the first day of the fair. Awards were presented to: Robert Kocoń- Ampacet Poland from Warsaw, Beata Wojciechowska - Betaplast Poznań and Rudolf Bagsik- Bagsik the company from Gliwice.
